Let’s face it, container unloading isn’t for everyone – it can be hard work and very demanding. You could be on your feet for long hours, handling heavy loads, and doing a lot of repetitive tasks. It can test you physically and it often takes a strong work ethic just to keep up. But if you’re the kind of person that relishes a good challenge and isn’t afraid to crack in and get on with it, this could be the perfect gig for you!
About the role
While the containers themselves come in a few standard configurations (20ft or 40ft), the content they carry is not always as uniform. Loads can contain packages of varying shapes and sizes and most containers are required to be either loaded or unloaded manually.

- Unloading containers manually, items in containers range from 5-25kg in weight.
- Sorting products according to client specifications.
- Move loads around the warehouse or a designated area.
- Lifting, moving, and carrying heavy or bulk items.
- Unloading delivery trucks and unpacking stock.
- Use basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) to move or rotate stock.
- Organising and storing items correctly.
- Pallet wrapping.
- Keeping your workspace clean and following safety guidelines.
What we’re looking for
- You’ll be on your feet for long hours and may be lifting heavy loads, so being physically capable is a must.
- You’ll most likely be working closely with a DDL buddy, so communication and teamwork are key.
- Ability to work within time constraints.
- We need someone who’s dependable and can show up ready to work.
- Reliability – able to work at short notice when required.
- Able to get there – reliable transport to get to and from work.
What’s in it for you?
- Casual shifts with flexible hours tailored to your schedule.
- A great team culture and a supportive work environment.
- Weekly pay, no waiting around.
- A chance to gain hands-on work experience across a variety of sites.
- If you’re eager and hardworking, you’ll get the gig ahead of others.
